On the board sketches below.  Spending more time developing a variety of sketches allows you to see how various ideas can look, so you can be confident in your final design decision, before ground is broken or construction begins. 

Spending more time on designs beforehand, can help save money too.  It is cheaper to sketch out a wider variety of designs and play around with different ideas, than it is to make changes after concrete is poured and framing has begun!
